INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT
The main objectives of the “Information Technology” Unit are the logistical assurance of the training process, the elaboration and
implementation of the management information systems for different subdivisions, automation of the activities specific for uni-
versity management, optimisation of information flows, modernisation and expansion of the local computer network, etc.
Day, the Academy of Economic Studies withholds over 700 computers, 14 servers, about 150 printers, network equipment and
multimedia devices. All computers are interconnected to the academic network that comprises virtually every unit of ASEM: the
rectorate, administrative offices, the doctoral school, the master school of excellence in economics and business, deaneries, de-
partments, the library, computer rooms, dormitories, etc.
ASEM students benefit from the services of a modern Multimedia Centre, equipped with 70 high-performance computers connec-
ted to the Internet, with printers, scanners and access to a range of electronic resources.
The university network is constantly evolving to meet new technological requirements. Currently, the access speed to the Internet
is 1 Gbps. All study blocks, as well as student dormitories, are connected to the Internet through optical fiber. The Wi-Fi coverage
area comprises the study blocks, the library, the reading rooms, front block halls, etc. In ASEM, all the Internet services are free.
ASEM TV STUDIO
On September 25, 2015, on the occasi-
on of the Day of ASEM and Economist’s
Day, The Academy of Economic Studies
of Moldova launched the first TV station
of the institution called ASEM TV. The
studio is a must of the times to allow for
distance education, while also being a
TV lab for the students who are eager to
go in for TV journalism.
